BioTrends Pacific, LLC is a company founded in 1997 by Terry Shintani, MD, JD, MPH, KSJ (who is formally recognized as a "Living Treasure of Hawaii") and his associates. The purpose of BioTrends Pacific, LLC (BTP) is to bring health-related products and services to a global marketplace.
BTP's primary products are foods based on his innovative health programs that have been documented to reverse a number of health conditions such as high cholesterol, diabetes, and hypertension. BTP is well-known for having pioneered a healthy line of foods provided through the largest restaurant chain in Hawaii, Zippy's, Inc. These foods which featured a line of 13 entrees and soups provided over 800,000 low fat, no-cholesterol meals through the service restaurant and in two-pound containers. It also included a bottled salad dressing and a packaged dry "Almost Chicken Broth" which was a vegan chicken broth substitute.
Dr. Shintani is a unique multi-talented public service minded individual. He is a physician, attorney, nutritionist, author, lecturer, radio show host and community advocate. He is best known for his service to under-served populations and his whole-person health programs and for pioneering the Eat More, Weigh Less Diet and the Shintani Diet programs. His Diet Program is featured in the Encyclopedia Britannica and his nutrition science works are published in scientific journals such as the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
